Casino War is based off the traditional game of War, that millions of
children around the world know and love. This game is one of the easiest games
to understand, but also very addicting. The major fascination with this game is
the speed at which is goes. There really are very little decisions to be made,
so you can get a ton of hands in, in a short amount of time. While this
certainly can be dangerous, it also could be healthy for your bankroll if you
get on a roll.

o In the case of a tie, the player has two options: 1. Surrender, and lose half of your bet, 2. Place an additional wager the same as your original. During a war, the dealer discards the first card and then turns over an additional card for each player. Once again, the highest card wins. If the game ties twice, the player wins both bets.
o Once you have made your bet and the dealer issues you a card, no more bets
can be made.
How to Play
The game is played between two players, the dealer and the player. The game is
started when the player makes a bet. Each player will receive a card face up;
the goal of the game is to have the higher card. The traditional ranking of
cards is as followed: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six,
Five, Four, Three, and Two. If the cards tie, the game goes to a tie. This is
called war. The description of what happens in times of “war” is explained in
the Basic Rules section. The game continues, with another bet being placed and
each player getting cards once again.
Payouts and Odds
This game is known to have one of the biggest house edges of any game offered at
a casino. Traditionally, with five decks, the house garners around a 2.3%
advantage with a bonus offered, and closer to 3% with no bonus offered. Some
places offer a “tie bet” which is there is a tie; the player gets paid 10 to 1.
When players play tie “tie bet” option, the house grabs close to a 20% advantage
when playing with five decks.
Basic Strategy
Players that have played Casino War for a long time certainly have the own
strategy down pat, and that is fine. Here are a few ideas that have been put
together for those you giving the game a shot for the first time.
Keep track of aces – These are obviously the biggest card in the game. Keep
track of how many are in the deck, and then how many are left at certain times.
You may be able to take advantage of knowing this and capitalize on it.
Be Wary of the Tie Bet – While the payout of 10 to 1 may seem sexy, do not fall
for this bet. There is a reason the payout is so high, it is very rare to
happen. The house edge moves to nearly 20%. While saying that, every once in a
while, if you are feeling lucky, and may be ahead, take advantage of it. Do not
overuse this option.
Never Surrender – the odds are for you in this case. Sure, you may lose double,
but you could also win double. And in most cases, if they offer you the win
after two ties, you are in a 50/50 chance of winning!
